American Heritage Girls was founded in 1995 in West Chester, Ohio but now spans 34 states and counting! It all began with a group of parents wanting to provide a program for girls that reflected their Christian values with a huge emphasis on service at every age level of the program. Our girls enjoy scouting experiences that help them foster talents and skills in six key areas of focus: The Arts, Family Living, Heritage, Outdoor Skills, Personal Well Being, and Science and Technology!
Through The Arts they develop creative talents while earning badges such as Cinematography, Creative Writing and Photography. Family Living badges such as Gardening, Home Care & Repair and Money Management help the girls foster much needed home management skills. Heritage badges such as Our Flag, Citizenship and Government and Caring for My Environment help them grow to be productive citizens in their communities while deepening their understanding of both their own country and the many amazing cultures all around the world. Through earning badges in the Outdoor Skills frontier they enjoy grassroots scouting experiences by earning badges such as Camping, Nature and Wildlife and Outdoor Cooking. Badges in Personal Well Being give them opportunities to learn Bible Basics, Emergency Preparedness and Social Skills and Etiquette. No modern scouting program for girls would be complete without the Science and Technology Frontier where they will earn badges such as Computer Fun, Young Meteorologist and Women Inventors.
Such diverse opportunities for growth and learning we hope will help the girls become well-rounded productive citizens in an ever changing world. There is a great need to help build women of integrity who base their lives on a foundation of such important characteristics as compassion, honesty, resourcefulness, purity and respect for themselves, their families, their communities, their country and the world outside our borders.
There are currently 60 badges, 5 level awards, 5 sports pins, religious recognitions, service stars and all sorts of high quality learning opportunities available to girls who enjoy the American Heritage Girls scouting program!
